This is most peoples knee jerk reaction to PC problems. However it is actually a far more complicated question. There are always solutions to problems with a PC however it really depends on your knowledge with them. Now There are preventative measures you can take such as being careful with what you install and always uninstall things you don't use anymore. For packrats like me tho we usually have to do it every 6-12 months. The thing that can make it easy or a headache is how many harddrives you have or partitions on those drives. I like to keep just my OS on one partition and store the rest of my stuff on either a separate partition or other drives. That way after a format and reinstall i only have to get my desktop and such set back up. All my data is still at arms length and no need to use CDs for slow copying back.
